Franklin Construction, and their Subcontractor Visinoni Construction, will be installing a new 24 inch diameter waterline on Skyway near the intersection of Wagstaff. As they approach the intersection, it will be necessary to close traffic in all directions, to provide for the safety of the motorists and of the crews doing the installation. We anticipate that this full closure, of Skyway and Wagstaff Roads, near the intersection, will occur on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 8:00 AM. The section of Skyway will be closed to all through traffic (local traffic only will be allowed past the traffic control points). We anticipate that this full road closure will last 8 to 12 hours...

NEWS RELEASE

Date and Time: Wednesday 1/30/08 at 9:00 a.m.

Charles L. Rough, Jr., Town Manager

DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES

Joanna Gutierrez, Town Clerk

Public Information Officer

530-872-976

All Paradise Unified School Districts are closed today, Wednesday, January 30th, due to the icy road conditions.

All public roads are plowed and open and are very icy this morning. Motorists should use extra caution when driving in slippery conditions by slowing down and being alert at intersections for sliding vehicles. The Town of Paradise Public Works Department is sanding the roadways and continues to monitor the conditions caused by the storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for interior northern California and reports that a cold Pacific storm system will be moving into northern California tonight, bringing mountain snow and gusty wind to the northern mountains. This Pacific frontal system will move across northern California on Thursday bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds to the mountains.

The forecast for the area predicts scattered snow showers and rain with a 30% chance of snow on Friday night and a 50% chance of snow on Saturday with a low around 30 on Saturday night. There is a chance of rain on Sunday with a night low around 30. Monday is predicted to be sunny with a high of 44. Citizens may access this weather information on the internet at www.wrh.noaa.gov., the National Weather Service website.

Paradise Public Works crews will continue to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week as needed to clear snow and reduce ice problems. It is recommended that motorists remain prepared for changing winter weather conditions and carry vehicle chains, warm clothes, waterproof shoes, blankets, flashlights, food and water if travel is absolutely necessary.

For further information and details on road closures and current conditions, citizens are encouraged to stay tuned to local media broadcasts, log onto the Town of Paradise website at www.townofparadise.com and access the weather links and weather press releases, and stay tuned to the Town of Paradise radio 1500 on the AM dial. Citizens may also call Town Hall at 872-6291 or 872-6976 during business hours Monday through Thursday 8 – 5 and on Friday 8 – 10. The non-emergency Police Department telephone number, 530-872-6241, may be called after 5 pm and before 8 am.
